As a part of my photography study program, I had to put together a exhibition of my final body of photography work. I had to choose a theme that tied the pieces together and told a narrative. 

Journal of a Homebody follows the daily experience of living as a trans man in a body that is always changing. My body has been something I have struggled to call home. Since I began my transition years ago, I have found myself having to adapt to changes in my body, not only on a physical level, but socially as well. These changes, although mostly welcome, have been difficult to adjust to. Transitioning into a new body comes with the unforgiving challenges of body dysphoria, gender dysphoria, and finding your place in a cisnormative society. 

My mixed media approach mirrors my experience with transitioning, using complex cyanotype-digital printing on watercolor paper or dyed fabric. I incorporate hand-painted elements with acrylic for painting props and gouache to add details to cyanotype prints. This blend of paint and cyanotype allows me to exercise artistic control and creativity, much like navigating changes in my own body and identity.
